Stage 4 lung cancer wasn’t part of Hugo’s story — until it was. A healthy non-smoker, his diagnosis made no sense. At City of Hope, Hugo learned his cancer was linked to a genetic mutation more common among Asian populations. Now he participates in Walk for Hope to give back and raise awareness of the mutation, helping others understand the risks and the power of early detection — and reminding everyone: “Hope is real. Don’t give up.”
